How’s it going everybody? We hope you ladies were treated nicely yesterday and we hope you fellas didn’t accidentally make the side chick think she was more important. Anyway, today’s Saturday which means we have a brand new Saturday Spotlight for you guys. The 5 artists/producer I’d like to introduce to you are Tre Redeau, Michael Christmas, Ace Dizzy Flow, Mz. Sasha, and Mayo. Enjoy!
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see the guidelines here.
First up we have the talented spitter out of Portland, OR named Tre Redeau and a dope video for his track ‘Rounds’. Formerly known as BLAZe‘, Tre sets out to re-introduce himself and re-invent his brand with this new single off of his forthcoming project Sandwhich Bag Chronicles. Check out the dope set of bars Tre lays over the Bknock instrumental and notice the nice cinematography from Soundlapse Media.
Boston emcee Michael Christmas was featured on our Saturday Spotlight series a while back, but it’s necessary to bring him back today after his latest release with Alex Wiley. Mike drops off his A-Rayz-produced banger ‘Step Brothers’ featuring Alex Wiley and it’s the last release we’ll get before his new tape Is This Art? drops on February 19th. For now, listen to the dope lyricism and wordplay from both emcees.
If you’re not the one writing the lyrics, than you’re the one providing the beat, and on his latest instrumental tape, Ace Dizzy Flow shows us why he’s one of the best doing it. Featuring soulful vibes, Ace liberates the 2nd installment to his series Late Nostalgic Nights. The talented producer released the original version to this a while back, but with 2 added bonus cuts, LNN Vol. 2 was worthy of today’s spotlight. Stream the dope beats below and purchase them here.
In light of Valentine’s Day yesterday, the lovely Mz. Sasha delivered her 12-track debut mixtape titled Sasha And The City. The DMV songbird only has one feature on there from her label mate Black Cobain in their hot new track ‘No Chase’. The Directors, E Major, Jab the Future, and more handled the production and did an excellent job providing the backdrop for Sasha’s story. Check out the full project below and take heed to the talent coming out of the DMV these days.
Last, but certainly not least, we have the very talented Mayo and his reflective track ‘Memories’ featuring jazzy vocals from the lovely Sydney Jay. The Chicago spitter reminisces on a previous relationship and how things didn’t work out. The 19-year old lyricist rhymes, “The one I thought would hold me down, I used to keep her in my circle now she’s no longer around.” Aside from that awesome pun about circles and not being around(a round), Mayo delivers a heartfelt story over the Mr. Carmack instrumental. Stream the full thing below and be on the lookout for this kid.
