Another Saturday, another Spotlight. Here at HHNM we receive a lot of submissions from artists who naturally would like their music posted on the site so years ago we decided to create this especially for them. It’s good to see it still going strong week after week. Today we share Joey Rockstar, Damond Blue, Will Brennan, Brad Hester and SlimVicious. Enjoy!
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.
Joey Rockstar
First is 21 year old Joey Rockstar from Brampton, ON who presents his latest mixtape Drugs For The Night Time. Just like he mentions on ‘Smoke Up’, the first song on the project, he does the rapping and the production. It’s probably a large part of the reason that his sound is so relaxed and his music is an easy listen. Check out him and his story on the project below.
Damond Blue
Next up is Baltimore’s Damond Blue. Damond is currently working under King Los which is certainly something to be proud of. He’s also on tour with Los and MGK and uses the opportunity to release Blessonz which features the boss Los, Fat Trel, Bun B and more. The 19-track project serves as a good introduction to the Maryland rapper so be sure to listen.
Will Brennan
The third artist for this week is Will Brennan. He liberates the first song from his upcoming project Black Americana, ‘Smoke & Mirrors’ featuring and produced by Madeaux. Throughout the project, Brennan will be fusing genres like EDM and Hip-Hop. This song is different to anything we usually hear and raises some curiosity as to what will come next with the effect on Brennan’s voice and the production. Listen below.
Brad Hester
Bronx rapper Brad Hester only released his first official project just weeks ago. Momentum is seven songs long and expresses his confident position right now. The powerful sounding ‘Our Time’ from the EP is a great example of his attitude towards taking what’s his. There’s a mixtape coming soon too so be on the look out for that.
SlimVicious
Lastly is DMV artist SlimVicious who shares Sounds Of Art. The first song opens with a classic Bob Marley sample before SlimVicious expresses his creativity throughout the project. The title of it is perfect considering the versatility shown on it. Take a listen below and if you’re really feeling it, buy it on iTunes.
