Post Malone’s ‘Stoney’ Achieves Peak Top 3 Position on Billboard 10 Months After Album’s Release

They say it’s a microwave era in Hip-Hop right now with most artists releasing music at a rapid pace and moving on to the next project even before the previous one has grown legs. But artists like Kendrick Lamar and Post Malone are proving to be on the complete opposite side of that spectrum.

Post’s debut album Stoney was released in December, 2016 and debuted at a sort of lackluster #6 on the Billboard 200 after moving 58k units in the first week. A few months later, his single ‘Congratulations’ featuring Quavo ended up being a huge success, reaching number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 and extending the album’s run to a great degree. As a result of the song’s reach, Stoney never fell off completely off the top section of the album charts.

Fast forward to October: the talented musician’s song ‘I Fall Apart’ from the album was released as a single by Republic Records, after massive reaction from a live performance video that went viral. It is one of the most played songs on streaming services right now and steadily rising on the Billboard Hot 100 (currently at #31) while his latest single ‘Rockstar’ has hit the number 1 spot.

Following the success of the above mentioned songs, Stoney has now reached new ears and this week, will be hitting the number 3 spot on the Billboard 200 with nearly 46k units moved. This will be the highest position since the album’s initial in December last year. How far can it go? We’d have to wait and see. Post Malone is set to release his sophomore album Beerbongs & Bentleys later this year.
