Everybody knows Joey Badass is an old soul but we definitely didn’t think he would be covering Prince’s classic record ‘When Doves Cry’ one day.
The Brooklyn rapper took part in Australian radio station’s triple j’s “Like A Version” series where he performed his own version of the 1984 smash from Purple Rain and he killed it too. Badass basically gives us a whole new song that he performs with a live band in the studio. Watch it below.
“To this day my mum is the biggest Prince fan, she always played Prince around the house, put me on to Prince at such an early age. Me and her we used to always sing ‘When Doves Cry’ together, so I made my own version. It’s called ‘When Thugs Cry’,” Joey told triple j.
