Watch The Latest NPR Tiny Desk Concert Feat. August Greene (Common, Robert Glasper, Karriem Riggins)

 

Last month it was announced that Common along with pianist Robert Glasper and drummer Karriem Riggins had formed the group August Greene together. The original idea actually came from a performance at the White House in 2016 during a special Tiny Desk concert.

The group has already dropped two solid singles — ‘Optimistic‘ featuring Brandy and last week’s ‘Black Kennedy‘. They recently visited the NPR headquarters with Brandy, Maimouna Youssef and Andra Day to promote their newly formed group and the upcoming album.

The band performed four tracks from its upcoming self-titled album (out March 9 on Amazon Music), an impromptu freestyle, and Day’s Oscar-nominated collaboration with Common, ‘Stand Up For Something‘ from the film Marshall. Watch the set below.
