How’s it going HHNM readers? I want to apologize for missing the last few Saturdays for our Saturday Spotlight series, but I’m happy to say that we’re back with some great new music today. Doing what we do best, I’d like to introduce you to 6 new artists that are worthy of a spotlight on this lovely afternoon. The MCs we’ll hear from are ReeK Da Rookie, Bianca Raquel, Lyriciss and Osiris, Soduh and last but not least Jay Verze, who returns to the Saturday Spotlight this week. Enjoy!
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines for submitting here.
ReeK Da Rookie
First up is Philadelphia’s own ReeK Da Rookie who drops off his long-awaited mixtape F.a.n.T.a.s.Y. Aside from ‘Day Dreaming’, ReeK wrote, produced and arranged every single track on this blazing new project. The 12-song catalog includes features from FreeWay, Chill Moody, Beano, Tiani Victoria, Reef Tha Lost Cauze, Kuf Knotz, Andrew Meoray and Cody Khamar. Giving us a solid effort on every track, it’s safe to say Philly has a new MC they need to be on the lookout for. Download ReeK’s new project below and if you enjoy good music.
Bianca Raquel
Bianca Raquel is a New York breath of fresh air who drops off a seductive new video inspired by Kanye’s ‘Hold My Liquor’ off of his Yeezus album. The lovely singer-songwriter-producer is working on her new album #CvrART, which is expected to drop sooner than later, but until then Bianca wants to give listeners some summertime anthems to hold us off. Be More Media behind the lens.
Lyriciss and Osiris Green
Let the duos commence. Rappers Lyriciss (aka Rob Regal) and Osiris Green revisited rap duo Group Home’s project Livin Proof , which was mainly produced by DJ Premier and was released on November 25, 1995. Fast-forwarding to today, the DMV spitters Lyriciss and Osiris wanted to revisit the 6 tracks to pay homage to both Group Home and DJ Premier by adding their own lyrical touch to it. And good thing they did because not only is it important to pay homage to the ones who did it before us, but their rendition is hot! Check out the 6 bangers below and appreciate today’s history lesson.
Jay Verze
Last but certainly not least is Saturday Spotlight’s veteran Jay Verze who is back today with a brand new project Life Through My Dark Shades. This promising 15-track project includes features from Corleone P, Shwaze Collins, Rickie Jacobs & Cheikh and production from EuroStarz, Nate Rhoads, Purps Of 808 mafia & more. Serving as the 18-year old’s 2nd official project, I think it’s safe to say that Jay has a bright future on his hand and it’s also safe to conclude that he will be one of the driving forces coming out of Baltimore to help put them on the map. Listen to the full project below if you don’t believe me.
