VERZUZ spring a surprise on fans when they announced a couple of days ago that a battle between Keith Sweat and Bobby Brown would go down on July 1st as part of the Essence Festival.
Many fans wondered if Bobby Brown would be able to hold up against Keith Sweat but let’s not forget, Bobby is not only a member of the legendary R&B group New Edition but also had a successful solo career with multi platinum albums like Don’t Be Cruel and Bobby.
With popular DJ Cassidy on the 1s and 2s, Keith Sweat played classic cuts like ‘Something Just Ain’t Right’, ‘Make You Sweat’, ‘How Deep Is Your Love’, ‘I’ll Give All My Love To You’, ‘How Do You Like It?’, ‘Right And Wrong Way’, ‘(There You Go) Tellin’ Me No Again’, ‘Come And Get With Me’ (with Snoop Dogg), ‘Merry Go Round’ and more while Bobby countered with ‘Don’t Be Cruel’, ‘Mr. Telephone Man’, ‘Jealous Girl’, ‘Girlfriend’, ‘Girl Next Door’, ‘Hit Me Off’, ‘You Don’t Have To Worry’, ‘Thug Lovin’ (with Ja Rule) and others.
