Kanye West wants to legally change his name to just “Ye”.
The Rap mogul has filed documents in court requesting the judge to change his official name from Kanye Omari West to the moniker he’s been going with for many years. It was even the name of his 8th studio album released back in 2018.
Interestingly, the documents he has filed don’t even mention his last name West in his request — he simply wants to go with “Ye”, according to TMZ.
The publication notes that in California, where the request was filed, as long as there’s no evidence that changing your name is to commit fraud do something illegal, they’re happy to grant it, so it’s not unlikely that the change takes effect sooner or later.
There’s no word on whether his artist name will change or not or why he wants to make the change, as of now. Below you can check out a piece of the document obtained by TMZ.
