A few weeks ago, pictures were released of JAY-Z and Beyoncé posing with an unreleased Basquiat painting for Tiffany & Co. In the pictures, Bey is seen wearing the famous Tiffany Yellow Diamond, which is 128.54 carats and worth $30 million. The pictures did cause some uproar, partially for the diamond which is potentially the result of slave labour, and partly because people didn’t love how the Basquiat painting was unveiled in a commercial. A source close to Beyoncé noted that she was “disappointed and angry” about the jewel’s history.
Nonetheless, the ad campaign moved forward today with the release of ABOUT LOVE, a short commercial which features Hov and Bey. In the company’s own words, it tells a “love story of longing, reunion and a bond that transcends space and time”. Beyoncé is heard covering Andy Williams’s ‘Moon River’ in the ad.
