[Saturday Spotlight] – Jay Dot Rain, Judah, Bizz-E Blaze, Olawumi x Phillip Myrick, + Angelo Mota

Good afternoon HHNM viewers, I hope your weekend is going well thus far. Per tradition, we’re back with another installment of our Saturday Spotlight series here at HHNM, where we shine the light on the deserving upcomers out there. For today’s edition we have 4 new tracks and 1 new video from 5 hungry artists — Jay Dot Rain, Judah, Bizz-E Blaze, Angelo Mota, and Olawumi x Phillip Myrick. Enjoy!

Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see the guidelines here.

Jay Dot Rain

First up we have Alabama native Jay Dot Rain and his jazzy new single titled ‘Grits N’ Gravy’ featuring Wynt Earley. The bouncy instrumental is provided by Block Beattaz, who will be producing all of Jay’s forthcoming project Trap Jazz expected out on March 12th. If ‘Grits N’ Gravy’ is any indication of what to expect from Trap Jazz, then we’re in for a treat. Stream/download this heater below and be on the lookout for Jay this year.

Judah

Residing in Toronto, Canada, next up is Judah and his energetic track ‘Ball’ produced by Johnny Juliano. You already know what to expect from the famed producer, and I’m here to tell you that Judah delivers quite nicely over the 1s and 2s. The hook is captivating and it allows you to feel Judah’s hunger — something I’m always looking for in artists. ‘Ball’ will appear on Judah’s forthcoming project, which is currently untitled. Check it out below!

Bizz-E Blaze

New York hip hop is dead huh? Not when it comes to Brooklyn’s own Bizz-E Blaze. The young emcee drops off his latest video for a dope track titled ‘The Pregame’, which is serving as the 2nd single off of Bizz’s recent project BizzOgraphy. On top of the song being attention-grabbing itself, the trippy set of visuals will keep your eyes peeled for the duration of the video. Watch the full thing below and cop BizzOgraphy here.

Angelo Mota

Next up is 18-year old emcee Angelo Mota and his fiery title track to his forthcoming project Good Life. The lyricism from Angelo is quite noticeable here and it sounds awesome over the Max Lazen instrumental. Mota has the kind of conversational flow that (if you’re a good listener) will force you to pay attention. The aforementioned project Good Life will be out on June 21st, 2014. Olawumi x Phillip Myrick

Last, but certainly not least, is the soulful Brooklyn singer Olawumi and New Jersey native Phillip Myrick, who drop off a soothing track titled ‘The Way That I Love You’. O sets the tone nicely with a sort of introductory verse/bridge that leads right into the powerful drop from producer Beat Boii. From there, Phillip delivers an honest verse about his love life. Olawumi is currently prepping her first project NOIR expected out in March, while Phillip continues to work on his currently untitled project. Man, this is smooth!
