Robin Thicke & Pharrell Lose ‘Blurred Lines’ Suit; Must Pay $7 Million

Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ featuring Pharrell and T.I. saw immense success after its release and was one of the biggest songs of 2013. The song’s sales exceeded $16 million with Thicke and Pharrell taking most of the earnings.

A little while after the song’s release, Marvin Gaye sued the composers, claiming that they plagiarised his 1977 track ‘Got To Give It Up’. Although Robin Thicke tried to counter-sue, a decision has now been made by the jury and it’s not a good look for him.

It has been decided that Thicke and Pharrell will pay nearly $7.4 million to Gaye with T.I. being cleared of wrongdoing. Ouch.
