[Saturday Spotlight] – DC Don Juan, Krown Royale, Hefna Gwap + MoBo The Great

Good afternoon, everyone! On this week’s edition of Saturday Spotlight we have not three but four new artists who have caught our eye in the past week that we feel deserve a look from you all and that’s exactly what we’re going to give them. Click below to take a look at DC Don Juan, Krown Royale, Hefna Gwap and MoBo The Great. Enjoy!

Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.

DC Don Juan

First up is DC Don Juan who has had a great week. If you listened to Audio Push’s 4/20 tape The Good Vibe Tribe, you heard his voice on the intro track ‘Refugeenius’. He keeps the promotion going strong here with the new video for his Issa collab ‘Fxcked Up’ which proves that he has no problem with flaunting where possible. Watch below.

Krown Royale

Our second pick is Brooklyn native Krown Royale who on Tuesday, delivered the first single from his forthcoming Summer album New York Spacey. On ‘Run The Town’ he has much to be proud of throughout the whole song but he stands out on the second verse where he floats around the alphabet and his wordplay will leave you wanting a lot more. Take a listen.

Hefna Gwap

Palo Alto, California presents Hefna Gwan today whose new song is produced by ATL’s Lord Plawz and is dedicated to “the A1’s and day ones”. He has a style that will surprise most on their first listen with his raspy voice and choppy flow but once you’re used to it, is just all the more reason to be engaged. Check out ‘Friendships’ below and be prepared for something new in a few days from his West Block Wednesdays series.

MoBo The Great

The Hip-Hop scene in Chicago has been booming in the past few years and just one of the dope female rappers from the city is MoBo The Great. For a rapper who you most likely are unfamiliar with, she’s been pretty successful in catching people’s eye. MoBo has been on stage with Jay twice, once in 2010 and again in 2014. Since then she’s been building a fan base and working on F*ckThePublic, her debut project. The second offering from the project is ‘Bout Sh*t’ featuring Katie Got Bandz. Turn up.
