Good afternoon, readers! It’s a Saturday so you already know we’re back on the look out for the fresh talent with the Saturday Spotlight. The five artists we have for you this week are Nique, PHresher, Lamarrie Esquire, Jevon Doe and Zero. Enjoy!
Remember: We take submissions for this series. Please see guidelines here.
Nique
Just before 2015 ended, Houston rapper Nique hit us with a self-produced song titled ‘Don’t Try’ which followed up his mixtape 6 AM which came earlier in the year in May. Now he comes through with a visual for the song, which is directed by Mickie Films. Check it out below and listen to his mixtape here.
PHresher
The second this week is PHresher who hails from none other than Brooklyn, NY. He comes through with a video for ‘PHoolio’ which he dropped a few weeks back. It sees him with the same energy as the track brings, hitting the quan and dabbing on the street of New York. Watch below.
Lamarrie Esquire
Next up is London MC Lamarrie Esquire who gives us another preview of his forthcoming album SCUM (Supreme Cut Untouched Magnificence). This time around, he teams up with Micall Parknsun for ‘Da Flyy Hooligan’, the name of which is taken from his AKA. Listen below and stay tuned for his LP which is due this year.
Jevon Doe
Fourth up on this week’s Saturday Spotlight is another Houston rapper. Jevon Doe is about to release Story Of My Life, his debut album but before then he liberates the title track on which he effortlessly floats between singing and rapping. Hear it below.
Zero
Last up is rising Philadelphia star, 18 year old Zero. Last month he shared Paradise Campground, his latest mixtape. He’s now made a smart decision and decided to push his Tory Lanez-featured single ‘All The Time’ on which his aggression and raw flow shine through. Check the song out below.
