JAY-Z and No I.D. had worked together on a few occasions before 4:44, mostly on The Blueprint 3 on songs like ‘D.O.A.’ and ‘Run This Town’. But no-one could have guessed that they’d lock in for JAY’s entire 13th studio album.
The producer sat down and spoke with Rolling Stone about the creation of the album and revealed some very interesting things about it. He talked about how he enticed Hov to talk about infidelity on the title track, how he figured out where JAY’s mind was at musically, how he used the pros and cons of previous classic albums to make this and a lot more.
