Nas Remakes 1993 Song ‘Life Is Like A Dice Game’, Adds Freddie Gibbs & Cordae — Listen

Hardcore Nas fans will know that before Illmatic was even out, in 1993 Nas put out a bunch of songs that were the sessions for the album. One of those was a little freestyle called ‘Life Is Like A Dice Game‘. On it, Nas ends the short verse by saying “on my freestyle tip, when I finish this sh*t, it’s sure to be a hit”. He never went back to it… until now.

Nas drops the final version of ‘Life Is Like A Dice Game’ tonight. The beat has been remade by Hit-Boy, who Spotify’s Carl Chery suggested do it. On top of Nas’ original verse is a fresh verse and two new guest verses from Freddie Gibbs and Cordae. Cordae, like myself, was a few years away from even being born when this first dropped, so it’s insane how things work out.

On remaking the song, Nas said: “Spotify pulled out a leak from the 90s that I did eons ago, and asked if I could resurrect it. I can’t remember where I recorded it, or who produced it – maybe Easy Moe Bee, he was killin’ the game at the time! Carl Chery from Spotify suggested we connect with Freddie & Cordae to bring the song new life and I loved it.”
