Pharrell and Chad Hugo defined an entire era of music with their sonic uniqueness as the duo once known as Neptunes. Now, financial discrepancies from that very past have caught up.
Pharrell Williams is now being sued by former partner Chad Hugo over payments that he claims have been held back. According to Hugo’s claim (and as reported by Complex after a reviewing of official court documents), Hugo was the “principal composer, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, and producer responsible for programming, instrumentation, and overall sound design” within the scope of Neptunes’ partnership.
Hugo strongly believes he has been wronged financially and claims he has not received transparent accounting of company funds. On top of that, he claims that money has, in fact, been held back from him. How much money? Well, according to the claim, he is owed at least $325,000 and maybe even more than $1,000,000, for N.E.R.D.’s No One Ever Really Dies album.
Previously, the two have engaged in a legal battle of the Neptunes trademark. This will be their second legal bout. What do you think?
