Drake’s Free NY Show Cancelled Due To Overcrowding, Rapper Issues Statement

Wow, the crowd in these videos looks like a protest rally or something. Drake was scheduled to perform a free show at South Street Seaport in New York from 6 PM to 9 PM but even before he could arrive, the place turned into a mess because of the tremendous swell of fans that came out to see the rapper. Sources say there was more than 15,000 in number, much more than the authorities had expected. After the crowd got unmanageable, NYPD had to interfere and cancel the show due to security concerns. Below is Drake’s official statement:

“I am humbled by the crowd that showed up in support of my performance and the release of Thank Me Later,” Drake told AllHipHop.com in an exclusive statement. “I love performing for my fans but unfortunately the show was canceled by the NYPD due to over crowding, leaving me without the chance to give my fans a real show.”

You can watch more videos from the venue after the cut.
