Jay-Z Samples Nirvana On ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’

We’re definitely anticipating Jay-Z’s new album Magna Carta Holy Grail and very eager to find out new info on the project. Nothing is yet confirmed about the album except for the fact that Hov worked with Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, Pharrell and Rick Rubin on it.

But today, troubled artist Courtney Love, who owns the Nirvana catalog following her husband Kurt Cobain’s death in 1994 has revealed to Huff Post that she recently gave Jay-Z the permission to use Nirvana’s iconic hit song ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit‘. She says:

“I’m letting Jay-Z use lyrics – Francis would freak [if she knew this.] Jay-Z’s huge and we’re friends. I mean we’re not besties or anything…. They [used it] without asking, which is kind of nervy but the business side has been taken care of so it’s fine.”
