Pharrell Earns ‘Best Original Song’ Oscar Nomination For ‘Happy’

Pharrell’s ‘Happy‘ from the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack is number 1 in the UK but yet to put a dent in the U.S. charts. However, Pharrell has scored a big one today as it has earned a well deserved Oscar nomination for ‘Best Original Song’.

The other nominations in the category at this year’s Academy Awards which are taking place on March 2 are U2’s ‘Ordinary Love’ taken from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Karen O’s ‘The Moon Song’, ‘Alone Yet Not Alone’ by Bruce Broughton and ‘Let It Go’ from the movie Frozen.

The song is set to impact Pop radio on January 21 and Rhytmic radio on January 28.

Can Skateboard P become the third rapper (although this song has no Rap) after Eminem and Three 6 Mafia to win an Oscar? We hope so!
