The third installment of the Ice Cube and Cedric the Entertainer comedy franchise Barbershop is in the making and Variety reports that Nicki Minaj has joined the cast.
She will play the role of a hairdresser named Draya who works in the beauty shop section of the barbershop. This will be her second major film role after playing Cameron Diaz’s assistant in last year’s film The Other Woman.
Malcolm D. Lee, who directed the “Best Man” movies, is directing Barbershop 3 from a script by Kenya Barris and Tracy Oliver. The original 2002 film Barbershop and its 2004 sequel Barbershop 2: Back in Business grossed a combined $140 million worldwide. What’s interesting is that two other musicians, Eve and Common will also be joining the cast.
