Dr. Dre ‘Compton’ First Week Sales Projections

UPDATE: The sales projections for Compton have increased, as expected. This is going to be a tight race. Here are the latest projection numbers:

Luke Bryan 315-325k albums, 335-340k SPS
Dr. Dre 290-300k, 320-330k

After much fan fare, Dr. Dre’s highly anticipated album, Compton: A Soundtrack was made available on Friday across U.S. and other markets. The Good doctor has clearly termed it his “grand finale” and suggested that we should now forget about Detox because it’s never coming out.

According to projections based on sales of first two days, the album is expected to move 260-275k (290-305k SPS) copies in the first week and will likely debut at #2 on Billboard 200 behind singer Luke Bryan’s Kill the Lights album which is currently looking at 325-340k (340-355k SPS).

Hits Daily Double notes that although Dre is clearing behind the race for the #1 spot right now, things could change depending on how much traction his Aftermath/Interscope set can get through TV, media and word of mouth.
