The inaugural Meadows Music and Arts Festival in NYC is making news for odd reasons. After J. Cole announced last night that his show at the fest was his “last for a very long time,” Kanye West abruptly cut short his set tonight due to a family emergency.
Kanye was about 45 minutes into his set and performing ‘Heartless’ on stage when he announced out of no where: “I’m sorry, there’s a family emergency, I have to stop the show.”

He immediately exited the stage and the music stopped. There has been no word on what the “family emergency” is but the Meadows Twitter account did release a brief statement about it. Incidentally, Kanye’s set at the Governors Ball back in June, which is also organised by the same company Founders Entertainment, was canceled due to inclement weather.
UPDATE: It is now clear what the “family emergency” was. Kim Kardashian was held at gun point and robbed in her hotel room in Paris by masked men who were dressed as Police officers, CNN has confirmed. Kim and her family members — Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian & others, are currently in Paris for the ongoing Paris Fashion Week.
“Kim Kardashian West was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room this evening, by two armed masked men dressed as police officers. She is badly shaken but physically unharmed,” Kim Kardashian West’s spokesperson Ina Treciokas told CNN.
We hope she is doing well.
UPDATE 2: The prosecutor’s office has said that a gun was held to her head. She was then locked in the bathroom and a ring worth an estimated 4 million euros ($4.49M) and other jewelry worth about 5 million euros ($5.6M) were among the items stolen.
Her two smartphones were also reportedly taken away by the men which is dangerous since the devices could contain a lot of personal information. Her children were not present with her at the time.
