Kendrick Lamar was able to avoid the Gang life early in his life but same can not be said about some of the homies he grew up with.
There are reports that one of his best friends from childhood, G-Weed has been shot in the head. The news was shared by Inglewood rapper Skeme and JRoc The Bodyguard who works closely with Nipsey Hussle and other rappers from L.A. area. G-Weed is a known Piru and grew up with Kendrick Lamar in Compton. He was featured in the Noisey: Bompton documentary and a few of Kendrick’s music videos as well, including ‘King Kunta’.
G-Weed is also one of the guys who makes an appearance on the cover of Kendrick Lamar’s sophomore album To Pimp A Butterfly and was with the rapper when he received the key to his city of Compton last year. K.Dot also spoke about his relationship with G-Weed in this interview.
The reasons for the shooting, which reportedly took place two days ago, are not clear yet but we will surely update once we know more.
