21 Savage Says ‘Issa’ Ft. Drake & Young Thug Was Left Off His Album So It Starts Some Controversy

One of the collaborations that fans had been really looking forward to hearing was 21 Savage, Young Thug and Drake’s song ‘Issa’. It was a speculated release until a low quality, unauthorized version of the track actually made its way on to the internet back in May.

21’s fans were hoping they will finally get to hear the song in its full glory when his debut LP Issa Album drops but they were surprised to see that it did not feature on it. Why did he decide to leave such a big song off the project? The Atlanta rapper was a guest on Complex’s Everyday Struggle show where he finally explained the real reason. It didn’t make the cut because it leaked in advance.

“..Coz somebody leaked it and I was like.. man, f*ck it, I’mma just drop the album with all me,” he said at the 14:30 mark of the interview. “I knew people were expecting the song to be on it but I’m like, I’m not gonna put it there so it could start some controversy,” continued 21 Savage. So it was basically a form of promo strategy and it appears to have worked. He does promise to release the song officially at some point.
