Influential Bay Area rapper Keak Da Sneak is in critical condition after being shot in Richmond, California Monday, reports East Bay Times.
The rapper, whose real name is Charles Williams, was found in front of a shuttered 76 Gas Station at Carlson Boulevard and Imperial Way when police arrived, Richmond police Lt. Felix Tan said. He was shot multiple times. He was then taken in an ambulance to a hospital trauma center, where he was listed in stable condition. Police has not identified r speculated any suspects till now.
“They’re working around the clock on this case,” he said Monday evening. “We’re hoping to talk to the victim as soon as he gets recovered enough to speak with us,” said Lt. Felix Tan. The rapper had successfully performed at a venue called Complex, on 14th Street in downtown Oakland on Sunday.
Keak gained fame in the mid-’90s as a member of the Bay Area rap group 3X Krazy and was an essential member of Bay Area’s “hyphy” movement. He released a new single ‘Thunderdome’ in June, the first taste off his upcoming album which was set to release later this year via EMPIRE.
