Rich Homie Quan Says The Rich Gang Songs Leaked Because Birdman Didn’t Pay For The Studio

Two years ago, almost 100 songs from Rich Homie Quan and Young Thug leaked on the internet on two different occasions, which was definitely one of a kind happening in the modern day internet world. One of those tracks also contained lyrics that referenced rape which the rapper later apologized about in a statement.

A few weeks later, Alex Tumay, the engineer who worked with Quan and Thug during the recording of those sessions issued a statement saying that it was heartbreaking to see all that hard work surface like that. We never saw another Rich Gang album after that, although Birdman kept promising that he will put one together for the fans.

Today, Rich Homie Quan was a guest on Complex’s show Everyday Struggle where he opened up about the songs leaking. Perhaps for the first time, Rich Homie revealed (46 minute mark) that Birdman didn’t pay for the studio time where they were recording “so they leaked all the music.” Quan said it in a light-hearted way but the statement attracts a lot of attention. He also said that the second batch of leaks which contained mostly his solo songs took place due to hacking of his email. Watch the interview below.
