Childish Gambino has landed a new record deal with RCA Records following a fierce battle between major labels which also included Interscope Records.
Last August it was widely reported that Gambino aka Donald Glover was hot property in the market where various major labels were trying to sign him. But it seems like RCA Records has won the bidding war, reports HDD. Gambino’s price went up high after he scored a surprise Pop hit with ‘Redbone‘ which peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.
‘Redbone’ appeared on his latest album Awaken, My Love! which is nominated for Album of the Year at the upcoming 2018 GRAMMYs. The album came through Glassnote with distribution from Universal. He also has other noms — Record of the Year, Best R&B Song, Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best Traditional R&B Performance. Glover earned multiple Emmys and a Golden Globe as well, and is prepping season 2 of his hit show Atlanta.
