As rumored last week, Kevin Gates became a free man today after serving 9 months in jail. He was released from an Illinois state prison on parole on Wednesday morning.
The rapper went to prison for gun charges stemming from an incident in 2013. He started serving the sentence in April 2017 and was initially handed over a 30 month sentence. TMZ reports that he will be on mandatory supervision and can’t possess any firearms.
Gates also served in prison last year after doing time for kicking a woman at one of his concerts but was immediately re-arrested for an outstanding warrant in Illinois for a weapons charge. Let’s hope we hear some new music soon.
