Boi-1da Talks Making of Drake’s ‘God’s Plan’; Reveals He’s Working on A Compilation Project

Boi-1da, the Jamaica-born hitmaker from Toronto, has been responsible for some of the biggest songs of last 9 years or so and he’s not stopping anytime soon. Last week, he had as many as three tracks inside the top 10 of Billboard Hot 100 — Drake’s ‘God’s Plan’ which debuted straight at no. 1, ‘Diplomatic Immunity’ debuting at no. 7, and G-Eazy’s ‘No Limit’ sitting at No. 10.

Boi-1da is one of those musicians who likes to keep it low-key with minimal interviews and is not chasing their “artist” side like some decide to at a similar stage in their careers. The multiple platinum producer, who works closely with Drake, recently talked to Billboard about his continued success, how his family helps him in his business, working with Drizzy, how ‘God’s Plan’ came to be and future plans.

“It was a half-finished record that Drake had. He came to me and needed me to put a bounce to it to rock a certain way. So I ended up adding some drums to the record,” said Boi-1da. “It came out well. I vibed with it and did what needed to be done. It came out as an amazing record.” he continued.

“I plan on putting out a project, a compilation of songs I produced. I have no set date, but it’s coming soon,” revealed the producer when asked what he has in store. ‘I’m going to be working with various artists and putting out songs. I got some big stuff in the pipeline,” he teased.
