Kendrick Lamar Says He Wants to Be in The Next Black Panther Movie

Kendrick Lamar has executive produced and contributed to songs on the Black Panther movie soundtrack which has taken the world by storm. Both the film and the movie are on top of the charts in the U.S. and many other parts of the world.

But the Compton rapper wants a more substantial part the next go around. He sat down with Clara Amfo on BBC Radio 1 earlier today to talk about producing the soundtrack, collaborating with artists like The Weeknd and much more. Kendrick said that he would love to have a role in the follow up to the blockbuster hit, maybe something like Michael B. Jordan’s character Erik Killmonger.

“I really enjoy Killmonger’s character, just off the simple fact that he was a villain but he came with some real. He was a villain but he was loved and misunderstood. So if I could, I’d play a Killmonger for sure,” he said.

Elsewhere in the chat, K.Dot spoke on his pre-performance rituals which include drinking green tea and listening to classics from artists like Prince, Marvin Gaye & Tupac (23 minute mark), how the song ‘Alright’ featuring Pharrell came about, getting booed as a young artist (says fans usually don’t understand a new artist until it becomes “cool” to like them), Hip-Hop being a major part of every big festival these days, being fond of Kung Fu movies (33:20 mark), the incredible GRAMMYs performance, the diverse audience at his show (50:00 mark) and much more.
