The world has been waiting for the new Jay Rock album since forever. The gangsta rap emcee from Watts in South L.A. has not released an album since 2015’s 90059 but fans are hoping the drought will soon end this year.
Rock has been busy in the studio, recording and teasing the release of new music, as you can see from the Instagram post above. There have been no details officially announced around his new album so far but it looks like TDE CEO, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith might have slipped some info through his latest Instagram post below.
“@jayrock marketing meeting…. New music and album coming soon… #TDE” writes the boss of the label in the post. But we noted something interesting on the screen of Top Dawg’s laptop when we downloaded and zoomed into the image (see below). It’s a photo of Jay Rock of course but below the artist name, it says “Redemption” which seems like the title of his new album.
Another thing worth paying attention to is that it says “Interscope Records” at the bottom, meaning the album will have a major backing behind it, unlike Rock’s album which was released through only TDE. Jay Rock’s single ‘King’s Dead‘ with Kendrick Lamar & Future (from the Black Panther soundtrack) has been one of his best performing songs till date, peaking at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and although it’s falling on that chart, it is still picking up spins on the radio, currently holding the #6 spot on Urban radio.
