The Weeknd ‘My Dear Melancholy,’ First Week Sales Projections

The release of My Dear Melancholy, truly came out of nowhere and the reaction to the LP shows that The Weeknd might have gotten back any fans he’d nearly lost with Beauty Behind The Madness and Starboy. The general consensus is that he got back to his original sound that we grew to love him for and that the EP is his best work in years.

The first week sales projections for the project are now in. It is estimated to sell 150k175k copies first week including streaming, with 55k65k of those coming in from pure sales. In comparison, his last album sold 348k sales plus streaming but of course this new body of work came with no notice and is only 6 songs long. You can expect the number to change a little throughout the week too but it i surely set for a number 1 debut on Billboard 200 this week.

ALso releasing new music on Friday was Rich The Kid who put out his debut album The World Is Yours. He is projected to sell 50k60k copies of the LP first week with 8k10k of those as pure sales. Be sure to check back at the end of the week for the final numbers.
