UPDATE (May 4): Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys (read our review here) has racked up 470k copies in the first week which makes it the biggest first week in sales for 2018. He has also managed to break Drake’s record held by More Life for the biggest single week albums streams at 440 million.
Previous story (April 30):
After several months of wait, Post Malone finally unveiled his sophomore album beerbongs & bentleys this past Friday. It releases at a time when his debut album Stoney is still sitting at the number 12 spot on the Billboard 200.
Assisted by hit songs like ‘Rockstar‘ feat. 21 Savage and ‘Psycho‘ with Ty Dolla Sign, beerbongs & bentleys contains 18 songs in total which additional guest appearances from Nicki Minaj, YG, G-Eazy and Swae Lee. It is already eligible for Platinum status from the RIAA and also projected to move big numbers on the actual Soundscan front.
HDD reports that beerbongs & bentleys is expected to do a total activity of 440-460k with 155-165k out of that coming from pure sales. This of course will be good for a number 1 debut on the Billboard 200 and seeing how fans are reacting to songs off the album, we expect the album to remain at the top spot for at least another week.
Post’s debut album Stoney was a late bloomer. It did only 58k copies in the first week and started at #6 on the Billboard 200 but was certified Platinum last year.
