Wale Talks J. Cole, New Label Deal & More on The Breakfast Club

Wale recently signed a new label deal with Warner Bros. Records in partnership with whom he will release his sixth studio album. The DMV rapper has been doing some promo for that and his new single ‘Black Bonnie’, his latest stop being The Breakfast Club on Power 105.

Wale spoke on promoting his single, which appeared on the It’s Complicated EP, what the new deal means for him, seeing a therapist lately, the Drake-Pusha T beef, the clout generation of today, why the music industry is changing so fast, writing a lot of songs lately and much more.

Wale also touched upon his past encounter with J. Cole in December of 2016 where he responded to Cole’s ‘False Prophets’ song with ‘Groundhog Day‘. Charlamagne asked him how they were seen at a basketball game a day after going back and forth on records. Wale responded: “I went to the gym, sat in the sauna for a little bit, went in the studio, wrote what I had to write. The next day, I listened to it in the morning, mixed it, put it out, and then went to North Carolina and went to go see him.” Watch the full interview below.
