Previous Story:

Ever since Drake dropped Scorpion on Friday at midnight, it feels like the world has been talking about it non-stop. The album has already shattered both Apple Music and Spotify’s opening day streaming records and we won’t be surprised when a bunch more break.

Before the LP even dropped a lot of people were taking bets on how many copies the album might sell first week, with many predicting that magic million mark, especially considering its length. Now the first week sales projections for the album have arrived.

Scorpion is set to move 870k920k copies first week with 275k300k pure sales, falling just shy of the 1m mark. Of course, the #1 spot next week is pretty secure. Stay tuned for updates.

Keep in mind that Scorpion is one of the first albums which has been impacted by the new streaming rules for Billboard 200 chart. From here on, streams from paid subscriptions will be given higher weightage to those streams which come from free subscriptions like Spotify’s free tier.  1250 streams of an album will equal 1 sale in case of the former while on a free plan, 3750 streams will be needed to constitute an album unit.
