Jay-Z has already done quite a bit when it comes to supporting people and organizations catering to the needs of those affected by COVID-19. He partnered with Rihanna for $1 million each towards relief efforts and then joined hands with Meek Mill to supply about 100,000 masks to prisons.

Now his wife Beyonce has stepped up and announced a $6 million donation to organizations providing mental wellness services. According to the press release, the singer’s BeyGOOD has partnered with Jack Dorsey’s #startsmall to provide the funding to organizations providing mental wellness services, through a key national partnership with UCLA. The initiative is also partnering with the National Alliance in Mental Illness (NAMI) to offer local support in cities like Houston, New York, New Orleans and Detroit. Personal wellness support will aid the following organizations: United Memorial Medical Center, Bread of Life, Mathew 25 and others.

“Beyoncé’s BeyGOOD recognizes the immense mental and personal health burdens being placed on essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. In our major cities, African-Americans comprise a disproportionate number of workers in these indispensable occupations, and they will need mental health support and personal wellness care, including testing and medical services, food supplies and food deliveries, both during and after the crisis,” says the release.
