In these crazy confinement times, NPR has come up with a new series called Tiny Desk (Home) Concerts where they will be bringing some home shows from across the world.
The latest one to grace it is Black Thought of the legendary Roots crew and he didn’t perform any songs that we are familiar with. Instead, he took the opportunity to debut three new tracks. First up is ‘Thought Vs. Everybody’ where he calls for unity in these unprecedented hours. The second one Thought premieres is ‘Yellow’, a song from his upcoming off-Broadway musical Black No More, an adaption of the 1931 Afrofuturist novel by George S. Schuyler.
Lastly, he performs a track titled ‘Nature of the Beast’ a collaboration with alternative musicians Portugal. The Man. This is a reminder that he’s one of the best to ever do it. Watch it below. Thought’s last project was the Streams of Thought Vol. 2 EP in 2018.
