[Saturday Spotlight] Nana + Kordoroy Floyd

Welcome back to week 5 of the Saturday Spotlight! We are blessed to enter our second month filled with impressive submissions and limitless potential. Entering the rap game requires patience, diligence, and perseverance. It can be unforgiving racing to the top, watching side to side to see your peers advance you, or you advance them. There’s no set time on what it takes to succeed, that depends on the power of the individual. Music is a quick destination to the inside of your soul, your artistry defines you from every beat produced to every lyric written. Last week I asked, what are you willing to sacrifice to succeed? This week I ask: how does your music define you? Whether you’re rapping to get your next plate of food, to keep the lights on, or provide for your family — rap music is about telling your story through your own eyes.

The artists we have highlighted so far out of the 300 submissions received by us, have showcased such a hunger through their respective flows that it borderlines insatiable. They want more, and they’ll continue to slay beats, one after another.  Now let’s introduce the winners of week 5!

Nana

Introducing first is Nana from Long Beach, California and she’s ushering the next-wave of R&B. What instantly captured our ears was her powerhouse choruses that sound like they were dipped in candy. Her music shows a sense a vulnerability, but a confidence that is wielded alongside with sense of rhythm. Inspired by Rihanna, meeting her at the age of 10 sparked the magic that would push Nana to become a future star. Check out her track “Pulle up” below:

Kordoroy Floyd

Up next is Kordoroy Floyd, a rapper that dominates in swagger and technique. Floyd has embarked on this journey for the past 7 years, returning last year after a hiatus with a fresh sound. “Free” is his most popular single to date, earning over 31,000 streams. “Free” is a track that’s easy to get caught within the confines of replays, with a hook that will get you quoting every word. Kordoroy Floyd is ready to take over, and he’s putting his city on the map. Check it out along with another one ‘Freeze’ below:
