Producer Southside Announces Retirement After 808 Mafia Album

Hitmaking producer Southside has announced that he will be retiring after the next 808 Mafia album.

As part of the 808 Mafia collective, Southside has had his hands in some of the biggest records from the South and beyond by artists such as Gucci Mane, Future, Drake, Migos, 21 Savage, Chief Keef, Young Thug, Juicy J, DJ Khaled and Wiz Khalifa.

But looks like he doesn’t want to be a part of the game anymore. He first sent out a tweet teasing the retirement saying, “I’m thinking bout retirement how y’all feel about that” which got a lot of reaction from fans asking him not to do it.

He then followed it up with another tweet saying that he will exit the game after the next 808 Mafia album that he’s been working on. “AFTER THIS 808mafia ALBUM IM DONE IM WHERE I WANNA BE IN LIFE AS A PRODUCER IM DONE JUST KNO THIS ALBUM IS GOING TO BE GREAT IM STILL GONE LEAD FOR THE CULTURE IM STILL GONE TRY TO PUT NEW PRODUCERS ON BUT AS A PRODUCER IM THROWING THE TOWEL IN AFTER THIS ALBUM I’m done.”

Whether he is actually serious about this remains to be seen but the game will surely miss him if he takes that decision.
