50 Cent Reference Song for The Game ‘Higher’ Surfaces Online

The deep saga between 50 Cent and The Game takes new turns every other year, it seems.

Today, something interesting has surfaced online. 50 Cent’s reference track for The Game’s ‘Higher’ from The Documentary has leaked on the internet allegedly through a recently recovered hard drive. On the track, you can hear 50 performing the song in the same style and similar lyrics as it ended up being on the final version over the Dr. Dre & Mark Batson produced beat.

Hear the reference track below. 50 has always claimed that he wrote about 6 songs on The Documentary — some full and some only choruses. They were all meant to be on 50’s sophomore album The Massacre but he gave them to Game at the request of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine. The other tracks that are already public knowledge are ‘Westside Story’, ‘Hate it or Love It’ and ‘How We Do’.

“They said, ‘The kid can rap, but he’s not a great songwriter,’” 50 said about meeting with Jimmy and Dre in LA when he was working on The Massacre. “When Jimmy called for me to do it I was like, ‘Alright, cool, I’ll fix it,’ and I gave it [to Game]. I only worked with him for about, I think, four days.”

This solidifies 50’s almost 15 year old claim that he wrote or helped write most of the hits on Game’s breakthrough debut album, which Game has always denied. In fact, Game along with Wack 100 recently claimed that he wrote ‘What Up Gangsta’ for 50 Cent which was shut down by Sha Money XL.

The Game is set to release his his new album DRILLMATIC this Friday, Aug. 12.
