J. Cole made a surprise move yesterday when he announced that will be releasing his new album Born Sinner a week early on June 18th, the same day Kanye drops his next album Yeezus. Speaking with Billboard, Jermaine confirms that he knew about ‘Ye’s release date and that inspired him to push his album up to compete with him as he feels confident about his work.

“Instantly the lightbulb [turned on]… it got real. I made one phone call to somebody that would know, just to make sure first. As soon as I got it confirmed, I was like, ‘Yo…’ The idea hit me instantly: ‘You got to go to that date. I’m not going to sit [here]… I worked too hard to come a week later after Kanye West drops an amazing album. It’d be like, ‘Oh and J.Cole dropped too, a week later.’ Nah. I’m going to go see him on that date. He’s the greatest. So it’s like, I’m a competitor by nature so it was instant, it wasn’t even a thought.”

He continued:

“It’s a definite statement about how I feel about my album, which is confident. At the same time, let’s not forget this is Kanye West. He bets 100, 1,000, whatever the perfect is. His track record is flawless. I’m only expecting an incredible album from him, But I know what I have.”

Gucci Mane and Chief Keef recently shot the video for their latest collaboration ‘Darker‘ in Atlanta and MTV was on the sets to catch some action. Director Spif TV told MTV:

“The concept [of the video] is that ATL bike life. That street bike life is real big now. Shout out to Meek Mill, he really put me more up on it. From Baltimore and Philly. The parks, riding four-wheelers and just that lifestyle.”

Juicy J sat down with Karmaloop’s Carissa Rossi or their “That Life” interview series in his tour bus. He spoke on the Taylor Gang compilation album, possible next single, working with Rihanna, having recorded about 80 songs for Stay Trippy album and more.

The Three 6 Mafia veteran also hints that his highly anticipated album may not drop on the schedule date, July 2nd as the label wants to put out a another single soon and let it grow. Well, that won’t be a good move in my opinion. His buzz is hot so they should just release a new single in first week of June and get the album out on time.

No Malice has released a trailer for his upcoming solo debut album Hear Ye Him and announced the release date for it — July 2nd.

Fabolous’ forthcoming album Loso’s Way 2 has been official pushed back. Loso sat down with Rap-Up for an interview and confirmed that the album will not be dropping on the earlier announced June 18th date but rather in late July because they wanted to “handle some technicalities”.

He also spoke on what we can expect from the album and the guest appearances who will contribute — Future, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Ne-Yo, 2 Chainz and Trey Songz. It will be nice to hear him do something different rather than just collaborating with the same artists again and again.

Chief Keef can’t stay out of trouble. The 17 year Chicago rapper was arrested last night in DeKalb County, Georgia for disorderly conduct, according to TMZ. The details are not clear but he did confirm the arrest on his Twitter. Chief, real name Keith Cozart, has been to jail a few times before and is currently being sued by middle school aged baby mama for child support.

As scheduled, Wale drops the artwork for his upcoming The Gifted album which hits stores on June 25th. The cover is a bit busier than I normally would like, but hopefully he encompasses all these concepts and makes it an appropriate aspect.

UPDATE: The track list has been revealed courtesy of iTunes pre-order but we doubt all the features are listed. We will update once those are announced.
