Bilal is readying the release of his new album titled A Love Surreal, which will be the follow up to 2010’s Airtight’s Revenge and is due in stores on February 12th, 2013. Centric recently caught up with the singer in NYC where he was shooting the video for the first single ‘Back To Love’. Here’s what he says about the LP and concept of the video:
February is all about love, and it seems appropriate for the album to be released during this month. Is the album about love in the traditional sense?
The album [is about love]. It’s about the whole process. Meeting, the break-up, the get back together. I’s Love, but a lot encompasses that word.So in the video for “Back To Love” I hear you’re playing this love doctor, who ends up being the one getting the lesson—or prescription of sorts. Who came up with the concept?
Actually my wife came up with the concept, and the we took it to another level. It started out as me being a love doctor, but [now the character is a love doctor that sells] legal marijuana.
