Here’s some awesome news for you Nas fans. The legendary rapper has announced today that a special 20th Anniversary Edition of his debut album, titled Illmatic XX will be released on April 15th via SONY Legacy. The remastered double disc album will feature several rare remixes, unreleased demos and freestyles which is up for pre-order on iTunes as as well as Amazon.
In addition to the above, Nasir will also go on a U.S. tour where he will perform the album from front to back, including shows at John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and this year’s Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.
“With Illmatic, I didn’t think about it. I just did it. I believe everybody has good instincts. Now I’m a man from that past and I’m supremely grateful. There’s a Nigerian proverb ‘What is past is prologue’. I’m here today because of Illmatic.”
