After initial hiccups of Kendrick Lamar’s new album To Pimp A Butterfly (stream it and see full credits here) being unavailable for some on iTunes and other retailers during the first few hours of release, most fans have now been able to listen and digest it properly.
Maybe the unavailability at retail propelled something else, to the benefit of the Compton rapper. His album has broken the record for most streamed album for all time in a single day, globally. It was played a whopping 9.6 million times across the world within the first 24 hours of release, announced TDE’s CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith.

UPDATE: Wow. Today, Kendrick breaks his own record. In the next 24 hours of release, Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly was streamed 9.8 million times.
