Previous story:

Does DJ Khaled really have the Major key? It appears so.

The Miami native promised several times that Major Key will be his biggest album ever but we hardly believed him because he claims the same before every album release. But looks like Khaled is really about to gain from all the big names on his project. The first single ‘For Free‘ featuring Drake is steadily climbing up the charts and his other two follows ups ‘I got The Keys‘ with Future & Jay Z and ‘Holy Key‘ with Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar & Betty Wright have made decent noise as well. And with the help of his social media reach, Khaled may be on route to having his best first week ever with his 9th studio album.

HDD projects that Major Key is on course to move 67-72k copies (45-50k pure sales) in the first week at retail, which will remain an Apple Music exclusive until August 5th. In comparison, Khaled’s last two albums sold 25k (I Changed A Lot) and 27k (Suffereing From Success) copies in the first week.

Major Key is also expected to give Drake some fight in race to the number 1 position on Billboard 200 next week. Let’s see if he’s successful in doing that.

UPDATE: Major Key‘s sales projections have gone up considerably. Khaled is now set to debut at #1 with 90-100k copies in the first week with 60-65k out of that counting as pure sales. This is set to be the best first week of his career.
