Bobby Shmurda’s case has finally taken a concrete course.
The rapper along with several others were charged of multiple crimes including murder, attempted murder and drug dealing. Bobby and Rowdy Rebel have today accepted a plea from prosecution in a court hearing, rather than risking the trial which could mean many more years behind bars. The rapper was originally charged with conspiracy to commit murder and several weapons and drug charges.
Under the deal, Shmurda has pled guilty to 4th-degree conspiracy, carrying a sentence of 1-3 years, and 2nd-degree criminal weapons possession, which carries a sentence of 7 years. The two will concurrently which means the young rapper will face a maximum of 7 years in prison, reports Billboard.
Under the terms of the deal, Shmurda will not be allowed to appeal, but will get credit for time served. He has served almost 2 years already so that leaves five years in his sentence.
UPDATE: In a statement to FADER, Bobby Shmurda’s lawyer Alex Spiro has said that the rapper may be home in 3 and a half years.
“His sentence of 7 years, with credit for 2 years already served and good time credit will hopefully permit him to be home in approximately 3 ½ years and resume his remarkable career. This plea also covers a separate Bronx Indictment.”
