J. Cole’s new album KOD (which stands for Kids On Drugs, King Overdosed and Kill Our Demons) is being adored by fans right now, from what we have seen on social media so far. The title song has broken the record for the biggest opening day on Spotify at 4.2 million streams, while the album has made a record for the biggest first day streams on both Spotify and Apple Music.
But how is the album projected to do overall after the first week? HDD reports that KOD will move approximately 375-390k copies in the first seven days with 140-155k out of that coming from pure sales, which includes both digital and physical editions of the album. Various bundles of the CD and vinyl editions are being offered on the official site. This huge number in the first week will guarantee a number 1 spot for the Fayetteville, North Carolina rapper on this week’s Billboard 200 chart.
These figures are a slight downgrade from the sales of Cole’s last album 4 Your Eyez Only which had moved 492k copies in the first week. With KOD‘s big opening numbers, it’s safe to say that J. Cole will be easily going platinum with no features yet again.
