Post Malone is a big force to be reckoned with, whether you like it or not. His sophomore album beerbongs & bentleys (read our review here) has moved a massive 470k copies in the first week, scoring the biggest opening week of 2018 which was held by J. Cole with his album KOD for just a week.
As far as pure copies are concerned, he has sold almost 180k this week. That’s not it. The rapper has also managed to have the biggest single-week album streams ever at 440 million. With this, he has broken Drake’s previous record of 385m earned by his last project More Life in March, 2017. Interestingly, both artists are label mates signed to Republic Records.
Post Malone’s debut album Stoney is continuing to sell solid as well. It has moved 29k copies this week, which is nearly a year and a half after its initial release in December, 2016. As far as RIAA goes, beerbongs & bentleys is already certified platinum for moving more than a million copies as it counts the streaming & sales numbers for songs released prior but included on the album — his lead single ‘Rockstar’ topped the Billboard Hot 100 for several weeks and the follow up ‘Psycho’ continues to stay in the top 5.
