Donda’s House Releases Statement Accusing Kanye of Ignoring Organization & Chicago Youth

UPDATE: Though Kanye West has been taking to Twitter a lot as of late, Kim Kardashian-West has jumped on social media to respond to Rhymefest’s claims from earlier today. Check her tweets and Rhymefest’s response below.

Pusha T taking shots at Drake has had some consequences indeed. After the G.O.O.D. Music president had some things to say about Drake on the song ‘Infrared’ from his Daytona album, the Toronto superstar was super quick to clap back with his diss song ‘Duppy Freestyle‘.

The song had lyrics aimed at both Pusha T and his G.O.O.D. Music head, Kanye West. And since Drake usually likes to take his feuds to social media, he posted an invoice for Pusha T and his manager Steven Victor, asking for $100,000 on the account of “promotional assistance & career reviving.’

What that has done is, encouraged Kanye’s old friend and co-writer of many of his hit songs, RHYMEFEST to reach out to Drake on Twitter. In the tweet, Che “Rhymefest” Smith asks Drake to donate some money to Donda’s House, the non profit organization he co-founded in 2011 in memory of Dr. Donda West, to help the youth of Chicago. According to RHYMEFEST, when he reached out to Kanye about it, his response was “f*ck the youth of Chicago.”

It looks like this Drake-Pusha T beef only gave RHYMEFEST to express his frustration online but the Donda’s House organization as a whole has decided to distance themselves from Kanye. In statement issued on behalf of RHYMEFEST and Donnie Smith, an educator who helped setup Donda’s House, the organization says that they have been unable to secure support from Kanye despite several efforts lately.

“Over the last few months due to Kanye’s statements and tweets, we have fielded requests for interviews and statements. We have been tagged in comments on social media about Kanye West, and we have been questioned by our foundational supporters and corporate supporters about Kanye’s public involvement in our organization,” it says. “While we cannot and do not speak for Kanye West and his views, we can and will speak up for the youth that we serve. We ask that those who feel hurt, angered by or frustrated with Kanye West not penalize or throw away their support, respect and advocacy for us,” it continues, hinting that Kanye’s recent support for Donald Trump has hurt their image. Kanye serves as one of the founding board members of the organization.

“We ask that as you boycott and protest Kanye West, that you not forget that we are a non-profit organization that like other non-profits needs donations, corporate support and volunteers. We do not want your rejection of Kanye West, to be a rejection of Dr. Donda West and the thousands of lives she impacted including her own son,” the statement continues.

“As we prepare to launch our summer programming, we have been bombarded with inquiries about Kanye West. As we seek support to convert Kanye’s childhood home into a recording studio, museum and learning space – we have been unable to secure the financial support of Kanye despite multiple attempts, and despite those early conversations about his plan of support and advocacy for the youth in our programs.”
