Kanye West & Kid Cudi ‘Kids See Ghosts’ First Week Sales

UPDATE: The final first week numbers for the joint project are in. The pair managed to sell 140,527 copies first week with 78,523 of those as pure sales.

Previous story:

Kanye West was in a “sunken” place and addicted to opioids last year but he has successfully turned that around to release two back to back albums. His solo album ye has got a mostly positive reaction from fans and moved over 210k copies in the first week.

This Friday, Kanye teamed up with his old friend Kid Cudi to release a collaborative album titled Kids See Ghosts (see full production credits here). This is also the name of their group. The seven song project features Pusha T and Mos Def aka Yasiin Bey as the main contributors but none of them are credited on the track list.

So how well is the album performing commercially? HDD projects that Kids See Ghosts will move approximately 100-110k copies in the first week, out of which 55-60k will be from pure sales. This will not be enough for a number 1 debut on the Billboard 200 chart this week. Dave Matthews Band’s latest album Come Tomorrow is set to move 230-260k in the first week which will propel it to the top spot.

Kids See Ghosts‘ chart position will depend on how well ye does in its second week and of course, the performance of Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys which has been moving more than 100k for past couple of weeks.
